FR9K is the best online file renaming solution in the world, and it’s FREE. Prove me wrong.
Renames batches of files effortlessly
- Select or drag in as many files as you like
- Provide a new base name
- Configure other options (auto-numbering, append original file name, make replacements)
- Download your files.
Why FR9K?
I needed an easy way to batch rename a bunch of photos to include keywords related to the time, place, and purpose of the photos. Nothing like this came up in my searches except for installable apps that I cannot use on my Chromebook. So I built FR9K which performs the renaming operation on the client-side and downloads the renamed files.
It’s FAST
- DOES NOT REQUIRE UPLOADING
- does not require installation
- does not require an account
- does not SPAM you with advertising
Privacy-Forward design
Since all renaming and download operations happen in the client browser session, no files are uploaded to us. The only info we receive is your request for the page, same as anything else on the Internet.
Semantic, minimal design
I designed this free, online file renamer with best web design practices in mind. It loads fast, requires minimal resources, displays beautifully, and does its job well. The markup is semantically sound, providing a lasting solution for batch file renaming.
Awesome SEO tool to rename files with keywords
Start uploading files to your blog or business website with some keywords that stand out and aid SEO! When you upload files named IMG_2394.JPG (or similar) to your website, it may display fine, but it’s not helping your SEO game.
Before you upload you new batch of photos, run them through this tool to add keywords and attribution. Not only can it improve your placement in SERPs— it will make it easier to find these files later in your media library and folders.
Strip or change special characters
Because FR9K supports replacements, you can easily strip special characters like _
or -
from filenames in bulk. It also automatically removes extra whitespace characters to keep filenames tidy.
Try it out: rename some files
If anything goes wrong, let me know in comments. My goal is to have the best free online file renamer on the Internet.
